Ask Anicca Terms of Service

Last updated: August 11, 2026

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Ask Anicca, including free and paid publication content and reader submission features such as Field Reports.

By subscribing to, accessing, or using Ask Anicca, you agree to these terms.

1. About Ask Anicca

Ask Anicca is an independent publication exploring human development, identity, existential inquiry, and related subjects.

Its content is provided for informational, educational, and editorial purposes. Ask Anicca does not provide medical, psychological, therapeutic, legal, financial, or other professional advice.

Nothing published by Ask Anicca, including responses to or discussions of reader submissions, creates a therapist-client, coach-client, advisor-client, fiduciary, or other professional relationship.

2. Subscriptions

Ask Anicca may offer both free and paid subscriptions through Substack.

A paid subscription provides access to the content and features described for that subscription tier. A subscription does not purchase individual access to Anicca or Tomas, personalized advice, private correspondence, or a guaranteed response to a reader submission.

Subscription billing, renewal, cancellation, refunds, and payment processing are administered through Substack and its payment systems and are also subject to the applicable terms of those services.

You may cancel a paid subscription using the subscription-management tools provided by Substack. Cancellation ordinarily prevents future renewal and does not remove access already provided for the remainder of a paid subscription period, subject to Substack’s applicable policies.

3. Field Reports

Ask Anicca may invite readers to submit anonymous Field Reports.

Field Reports are intended as contributions to an ongoing examination of recurring patterns, structures, questions, and experiences within the territory explored by Ask Anicca. They are not requests for individualized counseling, coaching, diagnosis, treatment, or professional advice.

Submission of a Field Report does not guarantee that it will receive an individual response or be addressed in a publication.

By submitting a Field Report, you grant Ask Anicca permission to review, analyze, categorize, excerpt, paraphrase, edit, discuss, combine with other submissions, and use the material as source material for Ask Anicca publications and related editorial work.

You retain ownership of your original submission. This permission is non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, and continuing so that Field Reports and insights derived from them may remain part of Ask Anicca’s editorial and research archive.

When material from a Field Report is published, Ask Anicca will endeavor to remove or alter details that could reasonably identify the person who submitted it.

Please do not include your name, contact information, or identifying information about yourself or another person in a Field Report.

4. No confidentiality relationship

Field Reports and other communications with Ask Anicca should not be considered confidential or privileged communications.

Although Ask Anicca takes reasonable steps to protect reader privacy and anonymize material used editorially, readers should not submit information that they require to remain confidential.

For more information about how information is handled, please see the Ask Anicca Publisher Privacy Policy.

5. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise indicated, Ask Anicca’s original articles, essays, conversations, frameworks, graphics, terminology, compilations, and other publication content are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

You may read, quote reasonably from, and share links to Ask Anicca content for personal and noncommercial purposes.

You may not reproduce, republish, distribute, sell, substantially copy, scrape, or create commercial derivative works from Ask Anicca content without permission, except as permitted by law.

6. Reader responsibility

Ask Anicca explores subjects that may prompt readers to reconsider deeply held assumptions, beliefs, relationships, identities, or life circumstances.

Readers remain responsible for their own interpretations, decisions, actions, and wellbeing.

Ask Anicca should not be used as a substitute for appropriate professional care or assistance where such care is needed.

7. Availability and changes

Ask Anicca may change its publication schedule, subscription offerings, features, pricing, archive availability, or other aspects of the publication from time to time.

Specific content, features, or publication frequency are not guaranteed indefinitely unless expressly stated otherwise.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Ask Anicca and its publishers, editors, contributors, and representatives will not be liable for losses or damages arising from reliance on publication content, reader submissions, or use of the publication, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.

9. Substack

Ask Anicca is hosted on Substack. Your use of the Substack platform is also governed by Substack’s own terms, policies, and applicable service conditions.

10. Changes to these terms

These Terms may be updated as Ask Anicca’s publishing practices, services, or subscription offerings change. The date above will indicate the most recent revision.

Continued use of Ask Anicca after updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.
